Always test before you print
A quick checklist to run before sending a code to the printer.
Printing is the point of no return — a five-minute test now saves a reprint later. Run this checklist on every code before it goes to the printer.
- Scan it with at least two phones — ideally one iPhone and one Android, using the plain camera app. If a phone that isn't yours scans it, most phones will.
- Scan at the real distance. Hold your phone where your audience will actually stand. A code that scans at arm's length on your monitor may fail from across a room. (See size guidelines.)
- Check the destination, not just the scan. Follow the link all the way through. Is it the right page? Does it load fast on mobile data? Is the page itself mobile-friendly?
- Print a proof at final size. Screens are forgiving; paper is not. Print one copy on the actual material at the actual size and scan that. Ink spread, dark paper, and laminate glare only show up in a physical proof.
- Test in the real lighting. A patio menu gets glare at noon; a bar table is dim at night. Scan the proof where it will live.
- Reread the call to action. The text next to the code gets printed too — check the spelling and make sure it says what the scan actually does.
Because every Qbit code is dynamic, one thing is not on this list: locking in the destination forever. Even after printing, you can repoint the code whenever you need to. Print with confidence.
