Choosing a destination: website URL vs. Qbit page
Point a code at any external link or a page you build in Qbit.
Every Qbit code points at one of two kinds of destination. You choose when creating the code, and you can switch anytime.
Option 1: A Qbit page
Point the code at a page you've built in Qbit — a menu, a landing page, a link hub. This is the best choice when the scan should open something you control end to end:
- The page is mobile-first by design, so it looks right on the device that just scanned.
- Edits to the page go live instantly — the code and the content stay in sync without touching either.
- Page and code live in one place, one login.
Choose Qbit as the destination and pick the page from the list. If you haven't built one yet, start here.
Option 2: An external website
Point the code at any URL — your existing website, a booking system, a social profile, a PDF hosted elsewhere. Choose External site and paste the full address, including https://.
This is the right choice when the destination already exists and lives outside Qbit. You still get everything dynamic codes offer: repointing, scan analytics, and UTM tracking.
Switching or setting it later
A code doesn't need a destination to be created — an unlinked code shows "Not linked yet" on its detail page. To set or change the destination:
- Open the code from QR Codes.
- On the Destination card, click Set up (or Edit).
- Pick Qbit or External site, choose the target, and click Save.
The change is live immediately, even for codes already in print. That's the whole point — see Changing a QR code's destination after printing.
